How to Clean Glass Doors

The Sliding Door Company provides a virtually maintenance-free system. We encourage you to follow these special cleaning instructions to ensure your doors continue to operate smoothly for years to come.

Cleaning Your Glass Doors, Room Dividers, Partitions

(Exception: Frosted Glass – see below)

Gently clean glass with a glass cleaner (i.e. Windex).

  • Apply and wipe slowly, using soft, clean cloth.
  • Do NOT scrub or harshly scour glass.
  • Perform, weekly, monthly, or as needed.

Cleaning Frosted Glass (primarily used for Closet Doors)

  • Exercise special care when cleaning the back side (etched side) of frosted glass.
  • Use a soft, lint-free sham or micro-fiber cloth that is dye-free, with a mild liquid detergent (must also be dye-free) dissolved in warm water.
  • Do NOT use an off-the-shelf glass cleaner.
  • Gently wipe glass in side-to-side or up-down motions (do not scrub or scour glass).
  • Do not allow splashed liquids or materials to dry on the glass surface.
  • Avoid food, hair dyes, lotions, oils, and other items from contacting the frosted side. These items may stain the frosted side of the glass permanently.
  • For any types of stains or marks on the etched/frosted side of glass that cannot be removed by the cleaning methods mentioned above, a dye-free mild acetone (i.e. Nail polish remover) can be applied to a soft cloth and gently used on the glass. This applies to smaller stains, not big sections of the glass.

Cleaning Your Door Frames and/or Upper Tracks

Clean frames with mild liquid detergent dissolved in warm water. Apply using a soft, clean cloth. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Perform monthly or as needed.

  • Air spray tracks if they attract pet hair or other debris.
  • Do not use abrasive or chemical solutions on aluminum. Sharp cleaning tools such a razors, knives, sandpaper, or steel wool will cause damage to the finish.

Cleaning Your Bottom Tracks

  • Bottom tracks of doors should be swept clean of dust, debris and or dirt regularly.
  • Avoid spraying lubricant on track as it will later collect dirt, dust, and debris, which can affect the smooth performance of your doors.
  • 5 Steps to Cleaning Bottom Tracks:
  1. Open the sliding door so that you can easily access the track. If you wish to remove the doors from the tracks (see installation instructions), do so one door at a time and set aside carefully.
  2. Remove debris, dirt, and deposits using a vacuum cleaner, compressed air duster or toothbrush.
  3. Then use liquid soap on a terrycloth rag wrapped around the tip of a screwdriver and rub the padded tip along the track to remove any remaining grease or dust deposits from the track.
  4. Finally clean the track with a dry, clean cloth to ensure all water deposits are wiped dry.

General Notes:

  • Before attempting to remove the panels from their track, refer to and read the instructions carefully.
  • The Sliding Door Company’s products (i.e. wheels, tracks, etc.) are unique to itself. Replacement parts may not be found at a home improvement center. You will need to contact The Sliding Door Company to order replacement parts.
  • While doing any other type of maintenance, remodels, or repairs near or around the doors, cover the tracks/panels if possible and do NOT lean tools or materials on the glass.

5 Benefits to Office Dividers

As we return to work, office spaces have gone from more open and collaborative, to considering the need for privacy and individual work areas. Wall dividers and partitions can provide a solution to the challenges that open office spaces present. In this blog, we’ll explore the benefits of installing office room dividers.

Increased Privacy

Privacy is an essential consideration for any office space. Employees require a level of privacy to concentrate on their work and avoid distractions. Room dividers can provide an enclosed space for employees to work, reducing noise and interruptions, and ensuring they can focus on their work.

Flexibility

Room dividers can be easily installed and removed, making them a flexible option for any office space. They can be used to create separate work areas or to reconfigure the layout of your space as needed. This flexibility allows for customization of the office space to meet the needs of the employees and the business.

Improved Aesthetics

The appearance of an office space can impact employee morale and productivity. Room dividers can be customized to match the design and aesthetics of the office. This can create a more inviting and visually appealing space for employees and clients. You can optimize every inch of your floor plan with space-saving glass room dividers.

Enhanced Flow and Function

Noise pollution is a common problem in open office spaces. Wall dividers can improve acoustics by creating a sound barrier between workspaces. This can improve employee concentration and reduce distractions, leading to improved productivity.  Sustainable sliding room dividers also add a functional option to open or close a space for privacy while still allowing natural light to flow in. Open-top solutions allow occupants to share lighting, heating, and air conditioning, saving energy costs every month.

Cost-Effective Solution

Building permanent walls can be a significant expense. Room dividers provide a cost-effective alternative that can be installed quickly and with minimal disruption. They offer a cost-effective solution to create a more functional workspace that meets the needs of the business.

In conclusion, room dividers and partitions offer several benefits to an office space. They can increase privacy, provide flexibility, improve aesthetics, enhance acoustics, and offer a cost-effective solution to customize the workspace.
